Champaign County YMCA — Urbana, OH Venture One Construction, Inc. completed this athletic training, wellness center, and office facility addition at the YMCA of Champaign County, Ohio, during the inclement fall and winter of 2003. Despite the inclement weather, Venture One completed the project in approximately 14 weeks. Because the scope of work involved several openings into main public areas of the existing facility, including the gymnasium and the existing weight center, Venture One was responsible for integrating and coordinating closely with the Owner. The construction involved masonry bearing walls, EIFS façade to complement the existing exterior, steel overhead structure, PVC roofing, and specialty athletic flooring and other interior finishes.

Urbana Physical Therapy Center — Urbana, OH Venture One completed the construction of this new 7,000 square foot new physical therapy facility in Urbana, Ohio, in January 2004. Venture One's involvement in the project began early through its ongoing partnership with McCall Sharp Architecture in the design and pre-design conceptual stages and continued well beyond project turnover and closeout. The project is a masonry and steel bearing structure which incorporates unique architectural elements such as multiple roof elevations, integration of clear anodized aluminum and metal coping and canopies throughout, architectural pre-colored masonry with accent bands to match the anodized theme, and a large clear anodized aluminum and glass façade with banding continuous with the masonry accents. A highlight of the design-build aspect of the project was a therapy pool complete with therapy accessories and full ceramic tile wrap. The project was completed on a tight schedule of approximately 16 weeks for a timely turnover for the Owner's grand opening.

Highland County Family YMCA — Hillsboro, OH Venture One completed the fast track construction of this new 34,000 sf health and fitness facility in Hillsboro, Ohio, in January 2003. The new facility includes:

An indoor six lane, 25 yd competition pool
-
A college NCAA regulation gymnasium, suspended running track, and bleacher seating
-
Large aerobics and weight facilities
-
Administration and support offices
-
Separate men, women, boys, girls, and family locker facilities
-

The project was completed through the winter in approximately seven months, well ahead of the projected schedule. The project reached completion with a construction cost of approximately $85 per square foot, which is nearly unprecedented in YMCA construction, and a net construction contract increase of 0.03% of original contract amount. This project, like many in Venture One's history, has contributed to ongoing relationships with both McCall Sharp Architecture and the YMCA Board. It has become the first living example of a unique, cost effective, and adaptable prototype YMCA facility that can be offered to similar Owners or organizations across the country by McCall Sharp and Venture One, whether through a design-build partnership or through a traditional design and construction scenario. Together the two companies have developed the means and methods to ensure the same quality, cost savings, and schedule efficiency to repeat this prototype for similar clients time and again.
